We don't celebrate catholic Xmas ever because we are Russia but we have Church holiday on 7th of January - christian Christmas (sounds weird).
The difference is that the West celebrates Christmas even if they don't believe in God. Like whole England/US is giving presents to each other and singing carols. We do the same only on the December, 31st.
And January, 7th is only for those who believe in God, and the are no gifts and Xmas tree :3
We don't sing carols, too. Or, well, we have an old tradition: children sing carols an get candies, biscuits... But more and more people are forgetting it because of mad city life nobody knows his neighbours next door, how can his children go and ask for candies?
I did it once, when I was 7 years old, but that house was friendly and there was a sign saying that this day adults should better prepare their yammies, 'cause little monsters are coming XD
I want to do it again, lawl, but I'm 16 and everyone doesn't care about this tradition
